Tucked into the rolling Texas Hill Country just outside Glen Rose, Rough Creek Lodge set the stage for three days of celebration that felt equal parts luxury retreat and down-home Texas party. From the first “welcome, y’all” to the final firework fading over the ranch, this was the kind of destination wedding weekend our team lives for.

Between welcome party and farewell, Alexis and Chandler’s guests had their pick of 40-plus amenities — horseback riding, fishing the ranch’s lakes, a four-lane bowling alley, pickleball, a driving range, sporting clays, a ropes course, miles of nature trails, and a pool and lazy river for slowing down in the Texas sun. With stylish lodge rooms, private cabins, and guest houses spread across the property, everyone had a comfortable place to land at the end of each night. The Welcome Party

Things kicked off in true Texas fashion. A mechanical bull, live country music, cold drinks, and a whole lot of laughter set the tone from the very first night. The energy was contagious — and it reached a high point when Chandler and his groomsmen decided the party belonged in the pool and took a fully-clothed victory lap into the water. If there was ever any question about the kind of celebration this weekend would be, that answered it.

A Chapel Wedding to Remember

On the big day, Alexis and Chandler exchanged vows in Rough Creek’s charming 1800s-inspired chapel — a rustic country sanctuary whose simple, timeless beauty was the perfect canvas for their upscale country chic vision. A palette of dusty rose and warm brown ran through every detail, from the florals to the tablescapes, striking that sweet balance of romantic and grounded, refined and unmistakably Texan. Watching this genuinely lovely couple say “I do” in that intimate space was a moment none of us will forget.

Cocktail Hour, Texas Style

Guests spilled out into cocktail hour, where signature drinks flowed and — because this is Texas — a pair of beer burros made the rounds delivering ice-cold bottles to delighted guests. It’s the kind of unexpected, joyful touch that gets people talking, and it was the perfect bridge from ceremony to the party ahead.

Dinner & a Reception for the Books

Dinner leaned into Rough Creek’s celebrated country fare, courtesy of the resort’s award-winning culinary team — Texas quail, beef, and chicken done to perfection. Then the Emerald City Band took the stage and turned the reception into an all-out party. The dance floor never emptied. And in a finale that gave us all chills, Alexis and Chandler crowd surfed their way through the crowd and ended up on stage with the band, belting out “Friends in Low Places” alongside their favorite people. Pure, unfiltered joy.

The night closed the only way a weekend like this could — with a fireworks show lighting up the Hill Country sky, the whole party looking up together at a perfect ending to a perfect celebration.
